A violin made to travel.

Our short film Folk Who Roam follows the making of a community violin, built to be played, passed on, and shaped by the people who carry it out into the rural landscapes that inspired it.

This violin’s journey is only just beginning, and now it’s ready to roam.

To borrow our violin for up to a week, please fill out the form below.

FAQs

Q. I don’t play folk music, can I still borrow the violin?

A. Yes, absolutely!

Q. What can I borrow the violin for?
A. Ideally, we’d love it if you took the violin to be played outdoors, and recorded either film, audio or text to document it’s adventure with you. But this is not an absolute requirement. Recording on studio albums with this instrument is also allowed, but please credit the Folk Who Roam project.

Q. How long can I borrow the instrument for?
Generally for a couple of days or up to a week depending on a demand. If you have a particular project in mind that would require more time, just get in touch.

Q. Does it cost money to borrow?
A. Nope! But if you’re in a position to do so, we’d always appreciate a small donation via our donations page to help us with the ongoing costs of running the project.

Q. Is the instrument insured?
A. Yes, it is covered by our insurance whilst in your care.
